The Hidden Brewery, a multi award-winning Wiltshire-based microbrewery, has acquired its fourth pub, The Chough in Salisbury.

The brewery is growing rapidly, having also taken on The King's Arms in Thornford, Dorset, in October 2007.

The Chough will be The Hidden Brewery's largest pub, covering approximately 7000 square feet over five levels, although only two levels will be open to customers.

Michael Woodhouse, from The Hidden Brewery, said: "The Chough is a very exciting place with an incredible amount of space, and we have lots of plans for menus, music, clubs, entertainment, Wi-Fi facilities and of course…real ale!

"We will be having a launch event once our refurbishments are complete and are very much looking forward to raising a pint with locals, regulars and visitors to Salisbury."

Michael Woodhouse, The Hidden Brewery: "The Chough is a very exciting place with an incredible amount of space, and we have lots of plans for menus, music, clubs, entertainment, Wi-Fi facilities and of course…real ale!"

The Chough is situated in the market square of the historic city of Salisbury and parts of the building date back to the 1300's when it was an old coaching house.

It became an Inn during the 16th century and many of the traditional features have been retained, which gives the interior its character and warm, welcoming atmosphere.

The Hidden Brewery's team plans to use the space inside and outside of The Chough to create a variety of different areas to suit different customers and times of day. One of the main evening themes at The Chough will be to host live music including jazz, blues, folk and rock.

There will be a large lounge area with cosy sofas, comfortable seating and an open fire for relaxed coffees, patisseries and drinks, after-dinner night caps, relaxed reading and informal meetings with internet facilities.

The downstairs bar is being refitted to create an attractive place to order and meet, and the surrounding spacious seating area will be used for lunches, evening drinks, nibbles and relaxed dinners.

Upstairs is a larger restaurant area with original wooden oak beams and listed windows, and room to cater for private functions.

The Hidden Brewery's operational staff plan to bring The Chough back into the heart of Salisbury by providing real ales, including guest beers and a variety of food offerings to the surrounding community, its businesses and visitors.

Michael concludes: "The Chough has huge potential and we will be working hard to make sure this is fulfilled - so watch this space! “
